How to keep yourself busy at home during the lockdown

In light of the UK Government’s recent announcement, everyone must stay at home at all times to help protect the NHS and save lives. Everyone, except key workers, should work from home where possible. Students, on the other hand, have been off school since last week. As these new measures will be implemented across the country for three (3) weeks, there are different ways to make the most of your time indoors.

Here are 5 Ways How You Can Stay Productive at Home:

1. Do home workouts.

Staying at home is not an excuse not to exercise. If you don’t have proper equipment, you can improvise. You can use your own body weight or other home items (eg. Milk gallons, books, etc.) There are hundreds of workout videos online to help you keep fit when you’re away from the gym.

2. Read a book.

Whether you live with your family or housemates, it’s always good to have some alone time. What better way to spend this than reading a book? Now that you have plenty of time, look through books you haven’t had a chance to read. If nothing interests you, download e-books online and snuggle up on a corner with a warm cuppa.

3. Do a TV series marathon.

Do you live with family, friends or housemates? Why don’t you start watching a new TV series altogether? This way, you can bond and have a great time together. Staying at home should be enjoyable for everyone in the household. If you haven’t done this before, then there’s no other excuse not to try! TV series that already have several seasons are a great start.

4. Learn a new language.

If you want to learn a new language, start now! There are several websites and mobile apps that you can use for this. Most of them are free, so you wouldn’t need to pay to attend classes. Also, you can do it from the comforts of your home. Isn’t that great?

5. Finish the project you’ve always put on hold.

Do you have unfinished projects or ideas? Now that you have plenty of time at home, take some time to sit down and brainstorm. It could be anything that interests you – from writing a book, to finishing a video project, to learning how to bake. You might even discover a new skill you never knew you had!

Being on lockdown is not necessarily a bad thing. Not only do we help protect one another from the coronavirus, but we also get some much-needed time for ourselves. Use this time to be productive and learn new things that you’ve always put aside.

Stay at home. Protect the NHS. Save lives.
